Chew on this,
Mark Sanford is leaning towards staying on as Governor of South Carolina and sighting the Bible's King David's sex scandal as a defense. Sandford says...
"I have been doing a lot of soul searching on that front. What I find interesting is the story of David, and the way in which he fell mightily, he fell in very very significant ways. But then picked up the pieces and built from there."
What he's referring to is David as King, saw a woman named Bathsheba in the bath and looking so good, he desired her and had sex with her. And got her pregnant. To avoid a scandal, he ordered the woman's husband, Uriah the Hittite, to come back from war to have sex with her to make it look like her husband was the actual father. The husband decided to stay on the battlefront. David then ordered his army to not follow or support the husband in battle "that he may be stuck down and die". Death soon followed and David married Bathsheba. Who became his favorite wife (I think he had 10).
That's your guide? A man who committed a sin and was successful in covering it up by killing an innocent? Well, that was at least until God was displeased. God does a godly drive by on David by killing his child."
